LAS VEGAS —  The University of Utah men's tennis team travelled to UNLV to compete in the ITA Mountain Regional Championships.
Emmett Potter led the Utes with strong performances in both singles and doubles action.
Singles
In the main draw, No. 6 seeded Potter kicked off his tournament with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Idaho State's Sep De Visser in the round of 64. He then defeated New Mexico's Bosin Phillip, 6-0, 6-3 and Boise State's no. 16 seeded Stewart Aronson to advance to the quarterfinals.
In quarterfinals action, Potter faced UNLV's Illia Maksymchuk where he battled in a 3-6, 3-6 loss.
Ute's No. 5 seed
Dante Teramo started off with a 6-2, 6-3 win, in the round of 64 against Montana's Matthew Upton. In the round of 32, he faced BYU's Caden Hasler winning the match, 6-2, 7-5. In the round of 16, Teramo would go on to retire.
Max Relic started off his regional play in the main round of 64 against BYU's David Doung where he won 6-2, 7-5. He would then go on to face Utah State's No. 7 seeded Jean-Baptiste Badon. Relic picked up the first set with a 6-1 score over Badon. However, Badon fought back to claim the second and third sets with 6-3, 6-3 scores to end Relic's run.
Doubles
In doubles action, the Utes' No. 11 seeded duo, Potter and Relic took to the court and made a run into the finals. The duo saw a first round bye in the round of 64, but saw action in the round of 32, where they posted an 8-7(3) win over Montana State's Andre Stewart and Oumar Diallo.
The duos momentum continued with an 8-4 win against Idaho's Mikolaj Lis and Sander Paradis in the round of 16. In quarterfinals, they faced New Mexico's No. 13 seeded duo Nishant Dabas and Dario Ciobotaru, where Utah won with an 8-2 score.
The pair then faced Northern Arizona's Takumi Katsura and Vincent Vohl in semifinals, where the Utes posted a 6-3, 7-5 win. They fell in the finals with 6-4, 6-7(5), 8-10 scores to BYU's No. 12 seeded Adam Chodur and Otto Schreiner.
