NEW YORK CITY – University of Utah softball associate head coach
Courtney Martinez has signed on as the associate head coach for the AUSL Bandits, who will be competing in the inaugural Athletes Unlimited Softball League, which will begin play on June 7.
Martinez is in her second season on head coach
Amy Hogue's staff at Utah and was promoted to associate head coach prior to the start of the 2025 campaign. She spent her first year at Utah working with six hitters who earned All-Pac-12 honors, including the league's batting champion. So far in 2025, Martinez's pupils have included four Utah hitters who own batting averages above .340 in Big 12 play and both
Emily Capobianco and
Kennedy Proctor are in the top 10 in homers in conference competition.
Martinez is the fourth person with Utah ties who has agreed to take part in the league's first season of play. Former Utes Hannah Flippen and Anissa Urtez were selected in the league's draft in January, while
Mariah Lopez joined the AUSL Talons in March.
