MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Utah men's tennis team fell just short to Old Dominion 4-3 in their final game of the Battle In Boro.

DOUBLES
Utah started the match off strong by capturing the doubles point. In the No. 1 spot Dante Teramo and Balthazar Huss got the first win, defeating Old Dominion's Thomas Nelson and Jean-Karim Oliver De Sardan 6-3. The Monarchs then took the win in the No. 2 spot. Utah clinched the doubles point in the No. 3 spot where Charles Frey and AJ Deem secured the advantage with a 7-6 (5) win over Monarch's Zechariah Hamrouni and Piet Steveker.

SINGLES
In singles action Old Dominion picked up the first win in the No. 5 spot to tie the match at 1-1. At the No. 3 spot, Simeon Terziev won his match against the Monarchs Felix Obermair 7-6, 6-1.

The Utes kept things rolling with a win at the No. 1 spot where Dante Teramo snagged a 7-6, 6-1 victory over Old Dominion's Adam Majchrzak. At the No. 4 spot, Lorenzo Esquici took his match wtih Zech Hamrouni into three sets. Esquici dropped the first set 3-6 and won the second set 6-1. The third set was close but ultimately Houmrouni closed out the third set 6-3 to add one to ODU's overall total score.

Utah had a 3-2 edge but the Monarch's didn't let that last long with the tying match point coming in at the No. 6 spot. On the No. 6 court, AJ Deem faced off to ODU's Piet Steveker. Deem forced each set into extra games but ultimately fell 5-7, 5-7 in both sets.

The match came down to the No. 2 court where Utah's Emmett Potter took on J-Karim OliverDeSar. Potter claimed the first set 6-2 but fell in a tiebreak in the second set 6-7. The third set was close with a 6-4 score but ODU was able to close it out to give the Monarch's the 4-3 victory.

Utah is now 3-7 overall on the season.

UP NEXT
The Utes will travel to Las Vegas, Nev. where they will take on Grand Canyon on Feb. 28. Utah will continue their away trip playing against UNLV on March 1.
