Utah Set to Play Denver and Montana This Weekend

SALT LAKE CITY— The Utah Utes men's tennis team will travel on the road to Colorado to play against Denver on Fri. Feb 6 and Montana on Sat. Feb 7. The Utes currently hold a 2-2 record after a win against Northern Arizona this past weekend.

SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
The Denver Pioneers are coming off a 18-7 overall record in the 2025 season. The Pioneers went 5-0 in WCC play. Denver sees returner in graduate Connor Rob Wilcox, who had an overall singles record of 18-8. Denver is currently 2-0 in their official 2026 season and will continue their home game stretch against the Utes on February 6.Â

SCOUTING THE GRIZZLIES
The Montana Grizzlies are coming off a 19-7 overall record in the 2025 season. The Grizzlies went 6-2 in Big Sky play. Montana sees a returner in senior Tom Bittner, who had an overall singles record of 13-5. Montana is currently 1-1 in their official 2026 season and will play against Denver in Colorado on February 8. Â
THE UTES
The Utah men's tennis program returns seniors Max Relic and Dante Teramo. The Utes also welcome back junior Emmett Potter. Utah has one sophomore returning to the squad in Charles Frey. The Utes welcome five newcomers with two transfers in Lorenzo Esquici and Simeon Terziev and three new true freshmen in AJ Deem, Oliver Mesicek, and Balthazar Huss.
LAST TIME OUT
The Utah men's tennis team won 6-1 against the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks in their second home match of the season. The Utes started off strong sweeping in doubles action. In singles play, Utah secured victories in the No. 6, No. 3 , and No. 4 spots to clinch the match. The Utes won the match 6-1.Â
HEAD COACH ROELAND BRATEANU
The Utah men's tennis team welcomed back Roeland Brateanu for his twelfth season as head coach. Brateanu coached the team to a historic 2022-2023 season, earning their first Pac-12 Regular Season Title. Prior to that season, Brateanu led the team to an 18-0 record in the 2021 season and finished ranked in No. 50 in the Oracle/ITA finale ranking. Brateanu currently holds a 185-108 overall record at Utah.Â

The Utes will travel to California to play San Diego State in a Valentine's Day match on February 14 at 1 p.m.Â
