Football News Names Preseason Mountain West Conference Team

MIAMI -
Five University of Utah football players were named to the Football News preseason all-Mountain West Conference team. Senior running back Mike Anderson, who led the Western Athletic Conference in rushing last year, was joined on the first-team offense by junior offensive lineman Sam White and senior offensive lineman Josh Cochran. On defense, two 1998 first-team all-WAC players were tabbed by the Football News: senior defensive end John Frank and junior linebacker Kautai Olevao. Utah and Wyoming led the preseason voting, with each placing five players on the team. Utah opens its 1998 campaign on September 4 at Washington State and closes it at Brigham Young on November 20. The Utes have one Thursday game, which will be televised on ESPN. It is at Colorado State on October 28.
