This week: Utah continues it's longest road trip of the season in taking on Pac-10 powers Stanford and California. Stanford is the top ranked team in the nation this year and has four of the top six ranked singles players in Region seven this year in Bob Bryan, Mike Bryan, Ryan Wolters and Alex Kim. The California match on Feb. 25 will conclude a streak of four matches in five days for the Utes.
About the Utes: On Feb. 16, Utah started out the week on top of their game in their win against BYU. Said Ute coach F.D. Robbins, "We exemplified the kind of consistency and strong play that we need to win. BYU is a great team and I am so proud of the guys for how they pulled through." The Ute hot streak continued on Feb. 18 in their match against Idaho State. Utah swept their visitors, winning 7-0. Continuing with their busy week, the Utes took to the road. After four hours of rain delay, the University of Pacific handled Utah winning four of six matches. The next day the Utes traveled to St. Mary's and won six of the days seven matches. The Utes posted a 3-1 record this week, and have a 7-3 mark on the year.
Utah in the rankings: The Utes check into the poll this week at No. 65 nationally. They also carry a No. 8 ranking in the Central Region.
Looking Ahead: This week's matches will conclude the first half of regular season play. Following the California, Utah will have a two-week break before it's next contest on March 13, when the Utes will travel to Las Vegas to take on UNLV.
