SIMI VALLEY, Calif -- The University of Utah men's golf team placed sixth at the Countrywide Invitational, with the final round of play finishing on Tuesday.

Defending champion, Jon Morgan, led the Utes by shooting nine-over-par to finish in eighth place. Gregg Oliphant placed 21st by shooting 14-over-par. Other participants for the U. included Lance Richards (43rd), Brock Padilla (53rd) and Shawn Edwards (53rd). The Utes shot a 922 total for the three rounds. Utah's next tournament is Nov. 9-11 in St. George when they compete in the Utah Collegiate Challenge.
