THIS WEEK
The Utah men's golf team heads to Columbus, Ohio this week as the sixth seed in the 2026 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Columbus Regional.
This marks the third consecutive year the Utes have qualified for regionals as a team and the seventh total time in program history.
After a rocky start to its spring campaign, Utah settled in down the stretch to record
a team victory at the Schenkel and improve its standing in the Big 12 from seventh place to
sixth place in the conference championship from year one to year two.
The Utes started their 2025-26 season strong in the fall, earning a
third-place finish at the inaugural Wohali Tournament and
second place at the Tindall.
Utah's early season efforts made program history in October when
the Utes notched the No. 1 spot in the country as a team and individually (Gabriel Palacios) in the Clippd Scoreboard Rankings.
Regional stroke play will take place May 18-20 across the country with 81 teams and 45 individuals competing for the opportunity to advance to the NCAA Final later in the month.
GET TO KNOW THE GOLFIN' UTES
Currently ranked as the 63
rd best player in the country,
Sergio Jimenez has had a solid junior campaign that has ramped up in recent weeks with a third-place finish at the Big 12 Championship including
tying a conference record 7-under 63 round and
earning a spot on the league's All-Big 12 First Team.
Jimenez sits with two top three finishes so far for the 2025-26 season and has a 69.1 shooting average. Additionally, Utah's Spanish golfer, along with Guatemalan Palacios, got to show their chops off on the world stage,
competing at the World Amateur Team Championships last fall.
Like Jimenez, Palacios has recorded two top three finishes this season (third at Wohali and second at the Tindall) while sitting with a 70.8 shooting average.
While the spring has been tough for the junior, Palacios has shown he is capable making history for the Utes on any given day whether it is as the first individual golfer to ever be ranked No. 1 in the country in program history or
playing in the Arnold Palmer Cup among many other accomplishments.
Senior
Brandon Robison has saved his best golf for last recently tying for second place at the U.S. Open Local Qualifiers with a 6-under 66 and earning an opportunity to compete for a spot at the U.S. Open.
Robison's play has also been a big factor for the Utes down the stretch at
the Thunderbird Collegiate, the Schenkel where he carded 36-straight holes without a bogey, and the Big 12 Championship. The Utah local currently boasts a 70.2 scoring average.
Super senior
Davis Johnson also recently took his talents to the U.S. Open Local Qualifiers where he just barely missed the cut, tying for fifth. He will remain on standby as an alternate competitor.
For the Utes, Johnson has recorded one personal victory at the Wohali and recorded a personal best round of golf at the Schenkel shooting 8-under 64. Davis holds a 70.8 scoring average.
Rounding out Utah's starting five is mid-year transfer
Jack Jerge who has proven to be a steady player since joining the team for the spring schedule. Jerge holds a 71.6 scoring average through 22 rounds played for the Utes.

COACHES THOUGHTS

"We work towards regionals all season and so now that we are here, we are excited to be going to Columbus. We have been working to prepare our games for the challenge of the Scarlet Course. Each of the members of our starting five have played at regionals and understands the different pressure associated with the tournament. We are looking forward to a great week."
