STANFORD, Calif. - The top-ranked Stanford men's tennis team blanked Utah 7-0 in non-conference action on Mar. 2 at Taube Family Tennis Stadium, in Palo Alto, California.
The No. 1 ranked Cardinal improves to an 8-1 overall record while Utah falls to 4-5.
In doubles action, Stanford's fifth-ranked duo of Ryan Wolters and K.J. Hippensteel topped the Utes No. 1 tandem of Ben Coates and Ryan Ferguson, 9-7. Stanford captured the doubles point by winning the No. 2 and 3 matches as well.
The Cardinal blanked the Utes in singles play, being led by the nation's No. 3 ranked player, Wolters, who downed Coates, 7-5, 6-2. In the No. 6 match, Utah's Ryan Snow stretched David Hauser to three sets, 2-6, 6-4, 6-1, in the day's tightest match.
Utah returns home for a Mar. 6 matchup against Boise St. The match will be held at the Eccles Tennis Center at 6:00 p.m.. Admission is free.
