Utah Repeats 10th-Place Finish at WAC Championships

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. - The University of Utah golf team placed 10th at the Western Athletic Conference Championship on Wednesday matching their finish from a year ago.

The Utes were lead by juniors Lance Richards and Gregg Oliphant. After one round, Richards was in 10th place shooting 73, just one over par with Oliphant in 25th place shooting 76.

Utah finished the day in 11th place. The two then switched places after the second round with Oliphant moving in seventh place overall (76-72-148) and Richards not far back finishing18th (73-79-152) and placing Utah sixth.

Lance Richards finished the tournament at 12 over par (228) and was Utah's leader placing 23rd. Oliphant finished 31st, shooting a three day total of 230.

Sophomore Shawn Edwards placed 38th (78-76-78-232), senior Jon Morgan placed 71st (83-82-78-243) and sophomore Brock Padilla placed 74th (84-77-85-246).
