Newcomers highlighted the Utes opening season win as Freshmen David Laverty and Daniel Carlsson both easily won their singles and doubles matches. At the No. 1 singles spot for Utah, sophomore transfer David Mercier was also victorious in his Ute debut, easily defeating the Aggie's top netter Andy Madersbacker, 6-1, 6-2. Utah continues its season with a trip to Boise State to play Oregon State and Boise State in consecutive days on Jan. 28 and 29.
