Two incoming Ute football players won Most Valuable Player awards for their respective teams in the Oregon Bowl, Saturday in Eugene, Ore. Brett Elliott, a quarterback from Lake Oswego High, was named the Most Valuable Player in a losing cause for the North team, while friend and future Ute teammate Tommy Hackenbruck, a running back from Mountain View, was named the Most Valuable back for the South team. Elliott completed 18 of 27 passes for 228 yards and Hackenbruck's 4-yard touchdown accounted for the South's final touchdown in its 21-14 win in Civic Stadium. Both players will be freshmen for Utah's team this fall. Another incoming Ute freshman also won MVP honors in an all-star game over the weekend.
