Salt Lake City - On Sat., Feb. 24, Utah upset the 44th-ranked Boise State University Broncos in a 4-3, down-to-the-wire battle. Utah won two of three doubles matches to win the doubles point. For the Utes, Nicolas Yip defeated 98th ranked Mark Roberts (20-7 overall) in the No. 3 singles match for the decision. With Yip's win, Utah clinched the singles matches and upset the Broncos, 4-3.
The Utes were 3-0 last week, defeating Weber State, 7-0, Idaho, 6-1, and Boise State, 4-3. Utah swept Weber and dropped only one singles match to Idaho.
The University of Utah men's tennis squad will host the Montana State Bobcats on Friday, Mar. 2. The Utes, who are 5-2 on the season, are undefeated at home and hoping to continue their success. As a team, Utah is 18-3 in dual doubles play this season. The duo of Corrie Scheepers and Tyler Poulson are undefeated at 7-0, playing from the No. 3 position for the Utes.
COMING UP: The Utes will begin a string of 11-consecutive road matches on Mar. 9 when they travel to play Pepperdine. They will continue the road trip by playing San Diego and Southern California on Mar. 12 and 13. Utah will begin conference play Mar. 22 at BYU.
