SALT LAKE CITY -
The Mountain West Conference office released the schedules for the eight conference schools today. Utah's MWC portion of the schedule opens on Sept. 28 against Air Force in Salt Lake City. The remainder of the conference schedule has Utah at San Diego State on Oct. 12, home vs. Colorado State on Oct. 19, at New Mexico on Oct. 26, home vs. UNLV on Nov. 9, at Wyoming on Nov. 16 and home against Brigham Young on Nov. 23. The Utes will have two 'bye' weeks (Oct. 5 and Nov. 2).
Utah's non-league schedule was already set, starting with a road game at Utah State on Aug. 31 and finishing in the Big House against Michigan on Sept. 21. In between is a home game against Indiana (Sept. 7) and a road game vs. Arizona (Sept. 14).
Game times will be determined later, dependent on television. The Mountain West Conference has a television partnership with ESPN.
Says head Utah coach Ron McBride, "We're obviously excited about the caliber of teams on the schedule. If we come out of the front part of the schedule in good shape, it sets us up for the rest of the year. Playing three BCS schools will give us a chance to show how we stack up against that kind of competition. The home schedule is outstanding as far as the teams coming in here. In addition to Indiana, we have Air Force, CSU and BYU-all annual contenders for the conference title-at home, which should be great for our fans."
