This Week
The 4-3 Ute Men's Tennis Team will travel to Moraga, Calif. to take on St. Mary's College on Fri. Feb. 22nd. The Utes are coming off a tough loss to Boise State on the road. After dropping two matches to the University of Arizona and Arizona State, Utah beat Northern Arizona and New Mexico State, but lost to Boise State. The Utes are 2-3 on their road trip.
Last Week
The University of Utah lost a very close match to the Broncos of Boise State on Thursday, Feb. 14. Utah was coming off two straight wins against New Mexico State and Northern Arizona before Boise State handed the Utes just the third loss on their month long road trip.
In singles competition, Boise State's Marcus Berntson defeated Dave Mercier (7-6, 4-6, 6-3) at the number one position. Boise State's Guillaume Bouvier beat Corrie Scheepers (6-3, 7-5) at the number two position. Nik Yip downed Boise's Mark Roberts (6-3, 7-5) at the number three position. Boise's Matias Silva defeated Daniel Carlsson (6-1, 6-7, 7-5) at the number four position. Daniel Lohff beat Boise's Imraan Ismail (6-7, 6-3, 6-3) at the number five position and Tyler Poulsen defeated Boise's Beck Roghaar (7-6, 7-6) at the number six position.
In doubles competition against Boise State Boise's Berntson/Roberts beat Mercier/Yip (8-3), Boise's Bouvier/Ismail defeated Poulsen/Carlsson (8-5) and Boise's Rezk/Silva downed Scheepers/Englebrecht (8-5)
After This
The Utes will finish their road trip by facing Stanford on on Feb. 25 and Cal Berkeley on Feb. 26. The Utes will then host Portland on March 1 in Salt Lake City at the Sports Mall.
