The Utah Men's Tennis Team will kick off a month long road trip on Feb. 4th in Tucson, Ariz. against University of Ariz. The Utes will then travel toe Tempe, Ariz. to compete against Arizona State on Feb. 6th, and to Tucson, Ariz. to take on Northern Arizona University on Feb. 7th. The Utes will finish the week in Tucson, Ariz. against New Mexico State on Feb. 9th.

The University of Utah men's tennis team opened their 2001-2002 season at home against Utah State and Montana State on Sat. Jan. 26th. Utah faced Montana State at 11:00 a.m. and Utah State at 5:00 p.m.
Facing Montana state in singles competition, Corrie Scheepers beat Lukaz Mazur (6-1, 6-2), Nik Yip defeated Thijs Goossens (6-4, 6-2), Daniel Carlsson lost to B.J. Hauk (7-5, 7-5), Daniel Lohff won over Branden Olson (6-2, 5-7, 6-4), Tyler Poulsen defeated Eddie Yang (6-1, 6-4) and Kaisorn Chaichana beat Jason Swanson (6-1, 6-2). In doubles, Mercier/Yip defeated Goossens and Hauck (8-4), Carlsson/Poulson beat Swanson/Olson (8-6), and Scheepers/Englebrecht dominated Mayo/Mazur (8-1). Utah defeated Montana State 6-1.
Facing Utah State in singles competition, Scheepers defeated Andy Madersbacher (7-6, 6-2), Yip beat Clayton Thomas (3-6, 6-2, 6-1), Carlsson won over Jonah Nelson (6-0, 6-3), Lohff beat Jordan Butler (7-6, 6-2), Engelbrecht beat Jason Trask (7-5, 7-5) and Tobias Tangberg defeated Steve Peterson (6-4, 6-0). In doubles, Mercier/Yip won over Thomas/Madersbacher( 8-4), Carlsson/Poulson defeated Nelson/Butler (8-3), and Scheepers/Engelbrecht beat Peterson/Trask (8-1). The Utes beat Utah State 6-1.
Coming Up
The Utes continue their road trip by traveling to Boise, Idaho for a match against Boise State on Feb. 14. The match is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m.
