SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah men's tennis team lost their second straight home match on Fri., Apr. 12. Utah lost 7-0 to San Diego State University. The Utes will drop to 1-3 in the Mountain West Conference and 12-10 on the year. The Utes will look to bounce back on Sat., Apr. 13 as they take on UNLV at the Canyon Tennis Club. Competition will begin at 2:00 p.m.
In singles, SDSU's Oliver Maiberger defeated Corrie Scheepers (6-4, 6-3) at the one position. At the two, SDSU's Valentino Pest downed Nik Yip (6-3, 6-3). The Aztecs' Felix Hardt beat Daniel Carlsson (6-4, 6-2) at the three. SDSU's Travis Hasson defeated Tyler Poulson (6-3, 6-2), The Aztecs' Ryan Redondo beat Daniel Lohff (6-3, 6-3) and SDSU's Gabe Coren defeated Tobias Tangberg (6-4, 6-1).
In doubles competition, Mercier/Yip got Utah's only victory by defeating SDSU's Maiberger/Redondo (9-8) at the one position. The Aztecs' Hardt/Pest defeated Carlsson/Poulson (9-8) at the two and SDSU's Hasson/Coren beat Scheepers/Lohff (8-5) at the three position.
