SALT LAKE CITY, Utah -- -
THIS WEEK: The University of Utah men's tennis team will begin dual play this week with two matches against non-conference opponents. On Friday, Jan. 22, the Utes will face Utah State University at 5:00 p.m. On Saturday, the team will match up against the Bobcats of Montana State at 2:00 p.m. Both matches will be home matches held at the Eccles Tennis Center.
Scouting the opposition: The Utah State Aggies opened their spring season against Air Force on Jan. 17. The Aggies were defeated 6-1 in dual play, with Ryan Bair recorded the lone win for Utah State. They will meet Montana State on Thursday at Utah State. Both Utah State and Montana State participated in the Omni Hotels Region VII tournament that the Utes participated in the fall season.
Ute Notes: The Utes made an addition to the team roster recently. Walk-on freshman Mike Bullard, from Farmington, Utah, graduated from Davis High School.
Quoting Assistant Coach Graeme Cox: "We are looking for these two matches as a good way to establish our line-up, and get the team back into playing matches after the lay-off following our fall tournaments. Hopefully the guys will be able to find some form and help them prepare for the rest of the season."
