SALT LAKE CITY -
ESPN has announced the kickoff times for two Utah home football games it plans to televise nationally this fall. Utah's game against California on Thursday, Sept. 11 will be shown on ESPN starting at 5:45 p.m. Mountain Time. The Utah-Oregon game on Friday, Oct. 3 will be televised on ESPN2, starting at 8:00 p.m. MT.
One other home game time has been confirmed on Utah's 2003 football schedule: The Utah-Utah State game on Thursday, Aug. 28 will kickoff at 7:00 p.m.
Moving the Utah State and Oregon games off of a Saturday was done to avoid conflicts with the Labor Day and LDS Conference weekends. Once the Utah-Oregon game was moved to Friday, ESPN2 chose to televise it. The opportunity to play in the ESPN National Game of the Week was the reason behind playing Cal on a Thursday.
Utah's remaining three home games will be played on Saturdays, with the start times to be determined later in accordance with to the Mountain West Conference's television partnership with ESPN. The Saturday games in Rice-Eccles Stadium have the Utes playing San Diego State on Oct. 11, New Mexico on Oct. 25 and Wyoming on Nov. 15.
