THIS WEEK:
The Utah men's golf team travels to Buckeye, Ariz., for the Steve Kerr Invitational this Friday and Saturday, March 19-20. The tournament is hosted by Denver University and will take place at the Sundance Golf Club. Two rounds will be completed on Friday, March 19, while the final round will take place on Saturday, March 20. Both days will begin at 7:30 a.m.
THE STEVE KERR INVITATIONAL:
The Steve Kerr Invitational consists of 14 teams, plus individuals and will be hosted by Denver. The teams competing this weekend are Colorado State, UTEP, Nevada, Indiana, Iowa State, Nebraska, Northern Iowa, SW Missouri State, Princeton, Northern Colorado, Wyoming, Xavier and Utah.
LOOKING BACK AT THE BRAVEHEART CLASSIC:
Garrett Clegg shot a final round score of 72 to lift him into second place in the final round of the Braveheart Classic on March 9. Clegg finished the tournament seven-over-par, with a three-round total of 223 (74-77-72). Utah finished with a team score of 71-over, 931 (311-312-312), placing seventh overall.
UTE NOTES:
Garrett Clegg's second-place finish at the Braveheart Classic, was his fourth top-three finish this year. Clegg won the Wolfpack Invitational, added a second-place finish at the Countrywide Intercollegiate and finished third at the Falcon Invitational during the fall season. Luke Swilor is the only other Ute with a finish in the top-three of a tournament this season. He finished second at the Falcon Invitational.
Utah is ranked 67th in the nation according to the GolfWeek national rankings. Clegg is ranked 23rd in the nation for college golfers in the Golfstat cup standings. He is also 92nd in the GolfWeek individual standings. Casey Fowles and Swilor are each included in the GolfWeek Top 300.
