Upcoming Event: Men's Golf versus NCAA Championships on May 29, 2026

THIS WEEK:
The University of Utah men's golf team will travel to Provo, Utah for the Cougar Classic beginning on April 23. The two day tournament will be hosted by Brigham Young University. The first two rounds of the tournament will be held on Friday, April 23, followed by the third and final round on Saturday, April 24. The starters for Utah are Luke Swilor, Garrett Clegg, Casey Fowles, Carl Jensen and Ashdon Woods.
COUGAR CLASSIC:
This year's tournament will be played at the Riverside Country Club. Last season the Utes finished fourth at the Cougar Classic. The team finished with a score of 867 (283-289-295) and was lead by Luke Swilor who placed seventh individually. Colorado State went on to win the team crown last season.
The Cougar Classic includes the following 14 teams: Denver, Colorado State, UTEP, Fresno State, Utah State , Southern Utah , Utah, Nevada , UC Davis, Wyoming, Hawaii, Boise State, Weber State and Air Force.
LOOKING BACK AT THE COWBOY CLASSIC:
Utah finished the Cowboy Classic on April 13 with a team score of 10-over-par, 850 (281-283-286). The Utes' final round of 286 dropped them from fourth after two rounds to a sixth-place finish. Leading the way for the team was Luke Swilor at even-par. Swilor finished with a three-round score of 210 (70-69-71), placing him 13th individually.
UTE NOTES:
The Cougar Classic is the last tournament on the regular season schedule for the team. The MWC Championships will be held in Sunriver, Ore., from April 29-May 1.
The Utes are currently ranked 91st according to the GolfWeek rankings. Utah has had three second-place finishes over the season, all of which were during the fall part of the season. The Utes sixth-place finish at the Cowboy Classic equals their best finish of the spring. Individually Garrett Clegg is ranked 176th in the nation in the GolfWeek standings.

"The team is excited to compete in a tournament that is close to home. The Cougar Classic is the closest thing that we have to a home meet; we know the course well and are always competitive there. Hopefully the team can use this tournament to build momentum going into the conference championships."
