POCATELLO, Idaho - The University of Utah Indoor Track and field team finished competition for the ISU Multiple Dual Meet on Friday night. Held at the Holt Arena, the meet featured athletes from Utah, Idaho State, Weber State and Utah Valley State College. Utah had a strong meet, claiming victories in five events and setting nine personal records and 7 Top-Ten performances.
Amanda Feigt claimed two victories, taking gold in the long jump (18' 8.25") and the triple jump (38' 4.75"). Both marks were personal bests for the sophomore and rank third on Utah's Top-Ten list. Junior Elise Greenwood-Bahr nabbed a victory in the 3,000 meters with a personal best 10:13.78 finish.
Once again the women's throwing squad dominated the shot put and weight throw. Utah athletes took six of the top-10 marks in the weight throw and five of the top-ten in the shot put. Senior Candice Workman-Ekberg took gold in the shot put boasting a 46' 9.50" distance. She also set a personal record in the weight throw and finish third overall with 54' 4.00".
Junior Vanessa Mortensen won the weight throw with an impressive 56' 5.25" mark. Junior AJ Roby, who finished second in the weight throw with personal best 55' 3.00" mark, also took fourth in the shot put with 40' 6.00". Freshman Nicole Farnsworth continued to impress finishing third in the shot put with a personal best 42' 9.75".
Utah's Vance Twitchell, Romney Stevens and Jen Kaplar-Cutrer also set personal records at the ISU Multiple Dual meet.
"Things keep getting better for the team," states Interim Co-Head Coach Brian Appell. "It's good to have such strong performances after such a hard week of training for our athletes. Our throwing squad is dominating this year, and we are excited for the upcoming Mountain State Games."
Next up for the Utes is the Mountain State Games in Pocatello, Idaho. Competition for the meet will kick off on Friday, Feb. 4.
