THIS WEEK: The University of Utah men's tennis team wraps up conference play with three matches in Provo, Utah this week.
On Thursday, Apr. 7 the Utes match up against in-state rival and No. 58 ranked BYU. Utah continues competition against No. 67 Air Force on Friday, Apr. 8 and concludes with No. 54 New Mexico on Saturday, Apr. 9. All matches are scheduled for noon.
REVIEWING LAST WEEK: Utah fell to 0-2 in the Mountain West Conference with losses to No. 75 San Diego State and No. 40 UNLV on the road last week. The Aztecs upset the Utes (6-1) while the Rebels barely edged them (4-3).
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT: BYU is 13-5 this season and 1-1 in the conference. Last weekend, the Cougars upset UNLV (4-3) but lost to San Diego State (4-3).
The Air Force Academy has an impressive 14-4 mark this season. The Falcons start into league play next week. Junior Shannon Buck is ranked No. 45 in the ITA singles rankings with a 18-2 record at the No. 1 position.
New Mexico, 4-5 this season, plays its first Mountain West matches next week. The Lobos have a No. 5 ranked doubles team consisting of Ryan Stotland and David Kowalski. The duo has an 18-8 record at the No. 1 spot. Kowalski is also ranked No. 100 in the singles.
