COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Zach Ganger and Miron Mann of the Utah men's tennis team have been selected to the doubles bracket of the 2005 NCAA Championships taking place Thursday through Monday at Texas A&M University's George P. Mitchell Tennis Center.
Ganger and Mann, who were at the top of the alternates list after not making the original tournament field, will face Marko Rajevac and David North of Georgia Tech in the first round on Thursday. The Ute tandem enters the NCAA Championships with a 22-4 record. They were ranked 34th in the ITA collegiate tennis rankings released May 2 after climbing as high as 29th this season. Ganger and Mann were also named to the 2004-05 all-Mountain West Conference team. Ganger is a freshman from Jacksonville, Fla. (The Bolles School), while Mann is a sophomore from Toronto, Canada (Thornhill Secondary HS).
"Zach and Miron are excited to be here and I think they deserve to be here," said Ute head coach F.D. Robbins. "They had a great year and went undefeated in conference play, and this is a great accomplishment for them and our program. All of the teams in the bracket are tough, but we feel good about their chances to do something in this tournament."
