HOUSTON, Texas -- The Executive Committee of the Rotary Lombardi Award has released an updated version of its official Watch List for the 2005 season. Two University of Utah football players -- Jesse Boone and Spencer Toone -- have been added to the list.
Spencer Toone is a candidate for the 2005 Lombardi Award. |
Boone plays center and was a second-team all-MWC offensive lineman last season, starting all 12 games. He played 775 snaps last season, compiling 49 knockdowns. Toone was an honorable mention all-MWC linebacker last season. He was Utah's tackle leader with 115 total stops, which was also tied for second most in the Mountain West Conference.
The Rotary Lombardi Award will celebrate its 36th year of honoring the finest lineman in college football on December 7 at the Hilton Americas Hotel in downtown Houston. This year's watch list is divided nearly equally between offensive (58) and defensive (63) players. To be eligible for the Lombardi Award, a player must play on the line of scrimmage (including tight ends on offense) or be a linebacker, who lines up within five yards of the football.
