Weddle Earning Midseason Praise

SALT LAKE CITY -- University of Utah cornerback Eric Weddle is garnering a great deal of praise midway through the 2006 college football campaign. Weddle has been listed as a "Midseason All-American" by two outlets, while being ranked in the midseason top 10 of all players in the nation by another.
Weddle earned Midseason All-America accolades from CBSSportsline.com and SI.com (Sports Illustrated). On SI.com, Weddle is touted as the "nation's premier cover corner."
Meanwhile, ESPN.com has announced its "Midseason Hot 100" list. Weddle is ranked as the No. 6 player on this list. No. 1 on the list is Georgia Tech wide receiver Calvin Johnson, who Weddle held to just two receptions in last season's Emerald Bowl.
Weddle and his Utah teammates will hit the road Saturday for a Mountain West Conference matchup with Wyoming. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. in Laramie.
