Utah Travels to Stanford Saturday
The University of Utah women's basketball team hits the road for the first time in the month of December this weekend. The Utes will travel to Palo Alto, Calif. for a Saturday afternoon matchup with the nationally-ranked Stanford Cardinal.
Utah is undefeated in December, with wins over Long Beach State, USC and Arizona. The Utes have won four straight, dating back to a 77-43 victory over Weber State on Nov. 29 in Ogden.
Stanford is ranked No. 14 in the Associated Press Top 25 and is rated No. 15 by the coaches in the WBCA/USA Today poll. The Cardinal haven't played since a 73-49 win over Texas Tech on Dec. 3. Stanford will have had 13 days off prior to its contest with Utah.
Stanford is the only Pac-10 team Utah has never beaten.
Utah Fast Breaks
? Utah has scored 66 points or more in its last four games. The Utes hadn't scored more than 55 in regulation prior to the current four-game win streak.
? Utah shot .366 from the field in the first five games. The Utes are hitting at a rate of .453 during their current four-game winning streak.
? The Utes are averaging 12.8 offensive boards per game, compared to 10.5 for the opposition.
? This is the third straight game against Pac-10 opponents. The Utes are 2-1 in those games.

Fine at the Line
Utah struggled at the free-throw line in the early-going this season. The Utes were hitting just 59.3 percent of their attempts from the charity stripe through the first four games of the season. But the Utes have gotten it together at the line since then. Utah has converted 79.5 percent of its free throws since then, including two games without a miss (6-of-6 at Oregon; 8-of-8 at Weber State). Utah is now shooting .711 from the stripe.
Whipping Up an Award
Freshman forward Kalee Whipple (Hiko, Nev.) is the first Utah player to bring home Mountain West Conference Player of the Week honors this season. Whipple averaged 15.5 points and 7.0 rebounds last week in victories over USC and Arizona. The true freshman had the second double-double of her young career against USC. Whipple hit four free throws in the final minutes to seal the win over the Trojans and two tosses to ice the victory over Arizona.
