Utah Coach Elaine Elliot
OPENING STATEMENT: Well, we are thrilled, certainly. We felt like we could win games and I think that is probably what got us through the end. It was not one of those games where everybody is making the plays to win games. I think (Sports Information Director) Andy (Seeley) told me that nobody scored in the last four minutes. So, a strange game. But, a lot of heart on both sides with a lot of battles from both teams and a real fun game to be involved in, obviously for us. I want to say first and foremost how incredible the fans are here in Albuquerque. They first and foremost came out in support of women's basketball, better than anywhere else and it was so heartwarming the reception that we received in this city. It has been a special time and we want to thank them for that.
Q: Obviously you have been here with Joh-Teena's (Filipe) performance, did you see something in her that you thought she could have this performance tonight?
ELLIOT: You know, she really responded so well to her time on the floor during the conference tournament. She has talent and you can see the talent. She is like most freshman and she has a lot to learn. We have sort of had our good and bad come with that throughout the year. She just has been so responsive and ready to play the last three games, not just that last game before this. This one, I just felt very confident that she was the one we were going to go to in these last few NCAA games, as far as who we were going to go to off the bench. She has done remarkably well.
Q: Even though Shona (Thorburn) and Kim (Smith) didn't have the best offensive night, it seemed like you had players step up. Obviously Joh-Teena (Filipe), everyone seemed to hit a big shot there. Were you expecting that kind of contribution?
ELLIOT: We have these kids that get it done night after night, but the reality is nobody does every night. We have always talked about the fact that each kid has to give their contribution, whatever it is. If it is a rebound contribution, they have to get the rebound coming their way. If you put up two shots, you have got to hit one of them. You got kind of a feel in terms of why you are with this team. It is not about your own individual score, so obviously we are talking about this now because of the solid play of everyone else on a night when 6 for 26 from these two kids would not get it done. We were fortunate certainly that we really never felt like it had to come to that. We were always in it and that was a real confident feeling that we won.
Q: How tough was it in the closing minutes like that where you were basically just gutting it out and you were having trouble buying a basket yourself, and it just turned to be a war of attrition when it came down to defense?
ELLIOT: Yes, it is interesting because generally kids are making plays, usually offensive plays, they are making big shots especially come tournament time. It is sort of the enthusiasm of the tournament. It seems like most games you watch down the stretch are decided more by the plays that are being made as compared to the war of attrition. I think you said it very succinctly. It was just sort of a deal where every rebound matters because the ball is not falling either way, it has to be one and out at either end. It cannot be that put back for them because they are not hitting either. So, it cannot be second try, third try, fourth try.

Senior Kim Smith
Senior Shona Thorburn
Freshman Joh-Teena Filipe
Freshman Morgan Warburton
Q: Joh-Teena, you hit a little bit of a freshman wall during conference play. What kind of turned it around for you, and how excited were you to have a chance like this tonight?
FILIPE: I think that I realized my team would need me, and it's just an unbelievable experience and I feel glad to be here, and play with these people.
Q: Kim, where did your shot go tonight? Did you think your team could win a game with that kind of a performance?
SMITH: I don't really know where my shot went, but I'm confident it will be back for the next game. As far as how we can win a game without that kind of performance, they never doubt with this team. I mean, people always say it's `Kim and Sho' [Shona Thorburn] but we have incredibly talented players on our team who can step up at any moment, and I mean you saw everyone hit every kind of shot tonight when we needed it, and they've done that all year. So it's never been just about myself having to score a bunch of points, we've always been able to do it in other ways.
Q: Can you talk about going to the Elite Eight?
THORBURN: Well, I've never been there before, but I've never been to the Sweet Sixteen either, so it's so exciting. I'm so proud of our team and how far we've come, and it's just so exciting and I wouldn't want to do it with anyone else.
WARBURTON: It feels really good. I'm blessed to be on a team like this. Especially with the three seniors, they are great leaders. I love playing with them.
Q: Morgan, as a freshman how were your nerves down the stretch?
WARBURTON: Little disappointed that I missed the free throw. But we won and that's all that matters. I'll just put that behind me and look forward to Monday. I'll carry forward the lesson that anything can happen. We're a team that's not picked to be here right now, so we're going to stick together and I think we're going to go far.

Boston College Head Coach Cathy Inglese
Overall I was pretty pleased with our team's efforts tonight. I think we started out a little bit slow the first ten minutes, but after that, the last thirty I was pretty pleased with how we played. I think it just took us a little while to get involved in the rhythm of the game. I was just pleased with our efforts, especially the defensive in end the second half. I thought that we out-rebounded them and talked a lot. Utah is a very, very scrappy team and out-rebound their opponents by six. I was just really pleased the fact that we had sixteen offensive boards and out-rebounded them. I think the thing that hurt us a little bit is that they had some of their secondary players. I think we did a really nice job on Kim Smith, holding her down. I think we did a fabulous job doing that. This is a team that gets a lot of stuff going to the basket, a lot of back door cuts. They move very, very well. I thought holding them to 57 points, I thought if we held them to 57 points we could score a little bit more. I think with [Joh-Teena] Filipe, coming off the bench and hitting those five baskets, I think that hurt us a little bit. But overall, just holding the primary players down and out-rebounding them we did a real nice job. I think they did a nice job on Kindyll [Dorsey]. Kindyll was coming off of two hot games and she struggled to get some shots off. They did a real nice job holding her down. I am pleased with both Brooke [Queenan] and Sarah [Marshall]. I think Sarah just played, as with the rest of the team, with her heart out. She did some real nice things at the end. Brooke, I think did a fabulous job. Getting in foul trouble that hurt us a little bit the first half. I had to take Brooke out and it turned into a sudden deficit. Brooke came back and picked up her third. I thought Brooke did a real nice job playing in the second half with three fouls and we were pleased with that.
Q: Did you get the shot you wanted at the end of the game?
INGLESE: We got the exact shot we wanted, and that's why I was happy at the end of the game. It was the last thing we worked on in practice today. We worked every day on special situations we worked on daily. I was very pleased, the fact that we executed the play with the right people and got the shot, and we had three open threes at the end. And that sideline play, we've never run that play up the sideline. We got the shot that we wanted. I think Brooke Queenan could have taken one more dribble, but I'm very pleased with the fact that we didn't give up. I think they felt confident at the timeout when I told them what to run. I felt that they would do what they needed to do, it just didn't go in.
Q: Coach you didn't hit any three-pointers in this game, did you think you'd be able to be that close without any outside presence?
INGLESE: I was a little bit worried about that. We knew that the defense would be in Kindyll's [Dorsey] shorts. And that's the thing that they didn't do. They had six threes and we didn't have any. But yeah, I thought we'd score in the lane but we would have liked to have gotten a few.
Boston College Student-Athletes
Senior Brooke Queenan
Junior Sarah Marshall
Junior Kindyll Dorsey
Q: Sarah, did you find the altitude left you gasping for air at the end?
MARSHALL: At times in the game, I did get a little winded. I don't know if that is from the altitude or just the pace of the game. But, it didn't seem to affect us too long, just in spurts. After timeouts I would be fine. Pretty normal feelings for that kind of game.
Q: Brooke, what was going though your mind through the last couple of minutes of the game? Just how frustrated was it to not get a basket?
QUEENAN: It was not really frustrating. I think at the end of the game we came in and executed our plays and got three good threes off. We go and do special situations a lot at practice and it paid off. We got the shot that we wanted in the place that we wanted with the people that we wanted to shoot them. It is a little frustrating that they didn't fall, but I think we did a great job at the end and we did what we wanted to do.
Q: Brooke, were you frustrated you could not be on the court more because of your foul trouble?
QUEENAN: Yes, I wanted to be in the game to be helping us score and play defense. But, I picked up my first foul especially early. I think it was frustrating to be on the bench not playing, I wanted to be helping my team.
Q: Thoughts on the game? You seemed to battle right to the end.
DORSEY: We definitely battled to the end. They came right out and I just give credit to our team, we got within one and down the end those four shots we make 95 percent of the time. For Brooke's [Queenan] shot, along with the other three plays, we executed perfectly. We got them to the people we wanted to, sometimes it just doesn't fall. As frustrating as it is, Utah played a great game, they executed, they never gave up, they played very hard. We laid everything out there.
Q: As difficult as it is to talk about next year already, what have you learned from the seniors that you can take into next year in your role as a senior?
DORSEY: We were just talking in the locker room and I give credit to them, they were amazing. That's a lot of the sadness, to see them leave. Through everything they've kept us together, through losses. We wouldn't have been able to get back without them. As seniors next year, me, Sarah [Marshall] and Kathrin [Ress], we're obviously going to use what we learned from them, work hard over the summer, learn from this, keep working hard until next fall.
