> Utah (1-1, 0-0 MWC) plays a non-conference road game against Utah State (0-2, 0-0 WAC) this Saturday in Logan. Game time is 6:05 p.m. MT in Romney Stadium. The game will be televised locally on KJZZ-14 and can be heard on Sports Radio 700 the Zone.
> Utah and Utah State have met 105 times previously in football, making it the oldest rivalry in Utah history and the 12th-longest series in the nation. Utah leads the series with the Aggies 73-28-4 (23-11 in Logan) and has won the last eight.
> Saturday will mark the third-straight non-conference game of the season for the Utes. Utah has one non-conference game remaining--against Boise State on Sept. 30. The Utes open Mountain West Conference play on Sept. 23 at San Diego State.
> Utah is 0-1 on the road (losing to UCLA 31-10) and 1-0 at home (beating Northern Arizona 45-7). The Utes drew 43,327 spectators to their Sept. 9 game against NAU--the 15th-largest home crowd in school history.
> A couple of Utes have ties to Utah State. Ute safeties' coach Derrick Odum coached the Aggie defensive backs from 2000-02. Starting free safety Steve Tate played for USU as a freshman in 2001. After going on an LDS church mission, he walked on at Utah in 2003--redshirting that year. He has since earned a scholarship.
> Four true freshmen have played for the Utes: linebacker Stevenson Sylvester, running back R. J. Stanford, defensive back Justin Jones and defensive lineman Zeke Wily. Sylvester started at "mac" linebacker against NAU and is slated to start again this Saturday at USU.
