THIS WEEK The University of Utah Utes Track and Field team will participate in their first indoor meet on Friday and Saturday Jan. 12-13. The meet will be held at the BYU Smith Field House located on the Brigham Young University Campus. The throwing events will begin at 4 p.m. on Friday and the track events will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
UTE NOTES The young Utah Track and Field team consists of 14 freshman, 8 sophomores, 3 juniors, and 6 seniors. Among those seniors is NCAA Qualifier Amanda Feight. In 2006 Feight qualified in the 400m hurdles and set the school pentathlon record with 3,880 pts at the MWC Indoor Championships.
KEPLER'S QUOTES "For the first meet of the indoor season I have no specific finishes. I am looking for effort and where we are at in our training process." Says head coach Kyle Kepler. "This season it's a matter of avoiding major ups and downs, whether we have a great finish or a poor weekend I want the athletes to stay in the middle, always improving."
Kepler finishes with, "We have a young team and it will be the first time they can put on that red jersey and show some pride for their school and team. Were looking to finish hard in all of our races and field events so we can refine our technique and processes at the end of the day."
NEXT WEEK The Utes will be in Logan, Utah for the Utah Sate Open scheduled for Saturday Jan. 20.
