The University of Utah Track and Field team had a great day Saturday Feb. 17, at the Wildcat Tune-Up ion Ogden, Utah. With a total of 4 event wins the Utes are on there way to the Mountain West Conference Championships next week in Albuquerque, NM.
Sophomore Haley McAllister took first place in the long jump with a jump of 18.06 ft. Other first place finishers were Susan Atwater in the pole vault (12 ft.), Mandie Rowell (Triple Jump, 36-10.25 ft.), and Jennifer Cutrer (55m hurdles, 8.20 sec.).
Freshman Jennifer Neddo has been struggling in the high jump but was able to go out and make a great jump as she placed third with a height of 5-03.25 ft. Chelsey Kaplar had her best race of the season in the 55m hurdles and placed third with a time of 7.33 sec. Sophomore Ashley Patterson broke a University of Utah record in the 200m dash with a time of 25.48 sec.
"We had a great meet this weekend," says head coach Kyle Kepler. "The events went very solid and we did what we needed to do." Kepler ends with, "I'm very pleased overall and I think were in great shape for the championships and were ready to give it our best shot."
The Utes will compete next weekend at the Mountain West Conference Championships in Albuquerque, NM on Feb. 22-24.
