SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - The University of Utah is off to its best start of the spring season after finishing two rounds of play at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic in sole possession of third place at two-under-par. The Utes are in striking distance of UC Davis, who leads the tournament at six-under-par.
"We played pretty well today," head coach Randall McCracken said. "We're in a great position heading into tomorrow."
Juniors Dustin Pimm and Steven Broker paced the Utes in the opening rounds, carding identical scores to finish at five-under-par and tied for seventh place. Junior Chris Gresh is tied for 14th place after rounds of 72 and 69 left him at three-under-par. Nicholas Larson turned in the best round of the day by any Ute, firing a impressive 65 in the opening round. Larson is currently tied for 20th place at two-over-par.
Play concludes with Tuesday's final round.
