> Utah has lost four starters to injuries in its first two games - two for the season: running back Matt Asiata (broken leg) and 2006 second-team all-conference receiver Brent Casteel (knee). Injured starters out for the UCLA game are preseason all-conference quarterback Brian Johnson (shoulder) and defensive tackle Gabe Long (knee). In the last month, Utah has lost a total of five starters to injuries. Preseason all-conference offensive lineman Jason Boone suffered a season-ending knee injury in fall camp.
> With a No. 11 ranking in both polls, UCLA is the highest ranked team Utah has faced since 2001, when it played No. 7 Oregon and No. 8 BrighamYoung.
> Utah is 10-44 all-time against teams ranked in the top-25, with all but two of those wins coming in the last 12 years. The Utes are 8-5 against top 25 teams since 1994. Utah beat three straight top 25 opponents - No. 19 Oregon State (2003), No. 19 Pittsburgh (2005) and No. 24 Georgia Tech (2005) - before losing to No. 22 Boise State last year.
> Utah is 0-2 to start the season for the first time since 2000 and just the third time in the last 21 years. Losing streaks at the front end of the season during that time: 1986 (7), 1995 (2), 2000 (4).
FAST FACT In the first two games, Utah has both scored and allowed 10 first-half points (three in the first quarter and seven in the second). Opponents are winning the second half 34-9.
