SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah men's tennis team prepares this week for two home matches against Idaho State and Nevada. The Utes will look to rebound after their three-match losing streak on the road. Utah and Idaho State will compete on Wednesday, and then on Friday, the Utes will take on Nevada. Both matches will be held at Eccles Tennis Center 5:00 p.m. each day.
THE UTES
The team is currently 2-4 for the season and undefeated at home. The Utes have had ten days off to recoup after losing to Saint Mary's College of California (5-2), No. 27 California (5-2), and San Francisco (4-3).
The Utes are led by senior Zach Ganger. He will play at No. 1 singles and doubles with partner Miron Mann. Ganger is currently 13-5 in singles play.
IDAHO STATE
The Bengals are currently 1-2 for the season. After falling to Air Force (4-3), Idaho State came back to win 5-2 over Portland State. Last week, the team struggled against Weber State, falling 6-1 to the Wildcats.
Idaho State is led by Marc Pijoan. The Bengal has posted a 3-2 season record and is 0-1 in doubles play.
NEVADA
The Wolf pack has had a tough start to their season as well, sitting at 1-4. Last week, Nevada fell to No. 75 Fresno State 7-0.
Leading the squad this year is Benjamin David at the top spot. The Wolf has tallied a 1-5 singles record and a 2-4 doubles record.
THOUGHTS FROM ASSISTANT COACH Roeland Brateanu:
"We are looking forward to playing Idaho State and Nevada and get some revenge for our tough road trip to the Bay Area. Although we are a little banged up, we should be eager to get two wins against two good teams and build some confidence for the rest of the season. This will also be a good opportunity for our back up guys to show what they've got. This is an opportunity for them to make our decision harder for the future on who to play at the No. 6 spot."
