FIRST SCRIMMAGE IS SATURDAY
Highlighting the third week of spring camp is the first scrimmage. The Utes will practice on Tuesday and Thursday in preparation for Saturday's scrimmage, which will start at 9:45 a.m. in Rice-Eccles Stadium (location has changed from original plans). Spring practices, scrimmages and the Red-White game are open to the public.PRACTICE SCHEDULE
Utah will practice from 3-5 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday. Tuesday's practice will be held at the stadium if the McCarthey Practice Fields are unplayable. Thursday's practice location is weather (and field condition) contingent. Saturday's scrimmage is slated to run a little over two hours, from 9:45 a.m.-noon. The scrimmage has been moved to the stadium.ONE AND DONE
The Mountain West Conference office intends to release the 2008 football schedule for its nine member schools on Tuesday, April 1. Utah already has its non-conference schedule finalized (see boxed inset).UTE NOTES
The Utes will take 75-85 snaps in Saturday's scrimmage, which will include drives starting at the 30-yard line, backed up, third down, red zone and two-minute drills ... All four quarterbacks (Brian Johnson, Corbin Louks, Chad Manis and DeVonte Christopher) will play on Saturday, but will be off limits to tacklers ... Likely to be held out of the scrimmage for precautionary purposes are receiver Brent Casteel, defensive end Paul Kruger, safety Robert Johnson and running back Matt Asiata ... Linebacker Jamel King, who lettered as a true freshman last year, suffered a torn ACL on Mar. 25 and will undergo surgery in the next week or two. His status for the upcoming season will be determined in the fall ... Starting nose tackle Isley Filiaga remains on this week's depth chart, but is questionable with a foot injury ... Starting right end Paul Kruger took part in his first contact drills of the spring on Saturday.RED-WHITE SPRING GAME
The sixth-annual Red-White game will be held in Rice-Eccles Stadium on April 19 starting at 1 p.m. Admission and parking are free. Players will sign autographs after the game.
