Sakoda Leads Phil Steele Preseason Honors

SALT LAKE CITY - Louie Sakoda was selected as a preseason All-American punter by Phil Steele's 2008 College Football Preview, while 15 Utes were named to the publication's preseason All-Mountain West Conference team.
Sakoda was selected as a second-team All-America punter. He was also named as the All-MWC first-team punter and kicker.
Joining Sakoda on the All-MWC first-team was cornerbacks Brice McCain and Sean Smith, defensive lineman Paul Kruger, running back Darrell Mack, wide receiver Brent Casteel and offensive linemen Robert Conley and Zane Beadles. Quarterback Brian Johnson and punt returner Marquis Wilson graced the second team.
On the All-MWC third-team was wide receivers Bradon Godfrey and Aiona Key, offensive guard Caleb Schlauderaff, linebacker Stevenson Sylvester, while McCain graced the team for a second time as a kick returner. Offensive tackle Dustin Hensel earned honorable mention honors.
The Utes open the 2008 campaign at Michigan on Saturday, Aug. 30.
