COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -
The Mountain West Conference released the 2009 football schedule today and defending MWC champion Utah is the first team slated for action. The Utes will host Utah State on Thursday, Sept. 3 at 7 p.m. in Rice-Eccles Stadium.
Seven of the eight remaining MWC teams open their season on Saturday, Sept. 5, while TCU starts a week later. The 2009 schedule plays out over 13 weeks and concludes on Thanksgiving weekend.
The 2009 schedule has Utah playing four non-conference games, then taking a bye before finishing with eight straight MWC games. The finale against Brigham Young is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 28 in Provo, Utah.
Currently, 10 of Utah's 12 games are booked for live television broadcasts, including all eight league contests and non-conference games against Utah State and Louisville. Kick times and TV for road games against San Jose State and Oregon will be announced by the host schools when the information becomes available.
VERSUS and CBS College Sports Network are widely available on cable systems across the country and via satellite on DIRECTV (VERSUS-Channel 603/CBS C-Channel 613) and Dish Network (VERSUS-Channel 151/CBS C-Channel 152). The Mtn. is carried nationally by DIRECTV.
