As of Friday morning, the University of Utah athletics ticket office reports that just 500 seats remain for the season opener against Utah State on Sept. 3. Utah, which averaged standing room-only crowds in 2008, is on pace to sell out Rice-Eccles Stadium again this season. Tickets for the other five games on Utah's schedule are also going fast. Here is what remains for those games: Louisville (800), Air Force (1,500), Wyoming (1,200), New Mexico (1,600) and San Diego State (1,300).
Director of ticket sales Zack Lassiter recommends that fans interested in purchasing tickets for Utah's home games contact the ticket office (801-581-UTIX) or order online (www.utahutes.com) as soon as possible.
There are no chair seats remaining for the Utah State, Louisville or Air Force games. Record season sales left just over 3,000 tickets for single-game purchase and visiting team seat seating. Utah sold 31,000 season tickets for the upcoming season, and the MUSS, student and comp tickets brought the season ticket total to 42,000.
It marks the fifth-straight year under coach Kyle Whittingham that Utah has broken the school record for single-season ticket sales. The previous record, set last year, was 30,547. Utah drew sold-out, standing-room only crowds to five of six home games last year.
