Utah Men's Tennis Prepares for ITA Kickoff Weekend

SALT LAKE CITY - The 53rd-ranked University of Utah men's tennis team (1-0) heads to Knoxville, Tenn. for ITA Kickoff weekend where they will face the No. fifth-ranked University of Tennessee (2-0) Sunday at 2 p.m. ET.

"We are excited to play in the National Indoors against one of the best teams in the country," said head coach F.D. Robbins.

The winner of the Utah vs. Tennessee match will face the winner of the 48th-ranked Virginia Commonwealth (3-0) vs. 43rd-ranked South Carolina (0-1) match in the championship match taking place Monday, Feb. 1 at 2 p.m. ET. The two losing teams will play in a consolation match Monday at 9 a.m. ET.

Last weekend Utah opened the 2010 dual match season at home against Utah State. The Utes defeated the Aggies, 4-3. Stephen Jacobs clinched the match for Utah from the No. 6 position defeating Nikita Ryaschenko, 6-7(4), 6-2, 6-2.
