SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah men's golf team will travel to Lakeside, Calif. for the 2010 San Diego State Barona Cup. The first two rounds will take place Thursday, March 25 with the final round on Friday. The tournament will be held at the Barona Creek Golf Club consisting of a 7,393 yard, 72-par course.
The Field: 16 teams will join the Utes, they include: UAB, Air Force, Colorado, Hawai'i, Loyola Marymount, Nevada, New Mexico State, Northwestern, Oregon, San Diego State, UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC Santa Barbara, Utah, UTEP and Wyoming.
Last Year: Last year the Utah finished the tournament in 10th place shooting a final score of 1,162 (390, 379, 393), 82 over-par. Kaleb Mahanes led the Utes with a two-day total of 229 (73, 77, 79), 13-over par. Colorado State placed first in the team standings after shooting a score of 1,051, 29-under par. Dustin Morris of Colorado State led the individual standings with a final score of 203, 13-under par.
The Last Time: Last weekend Utah traveled to Goodyear, Ariz. for the 2010 Desert Shootout hosted by the University of Denver. Utah placed 15th with a three-day total of 893 (295, 297, 301), 29-over par. Chase Hite led Utah with a tie in 50th place shooting a score of 221, five-over par.
