SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah golf team will participate in the eighth annual University of Wyoming Cowboy Classic in Scottsdale, Ariz. The tournament kicks off on Monday April 5 with the first two rounds and wraps up with a final round on Tuesday. Both day will start at 7:45 a.m. shotgun start. The event is hosted by the University of Wyoming and will take place at the Talking Stick Golf Club, 7,133 yards, par-70.
The Field: The field is made up of 25 teams: Wyoming, Air Force, Arizona, Arkansas-Little Rock, Cal State Northridge, Colorado, Gonzaga, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico State, Northern Colorado, Oklahoma, Old Dominion, San Diego, Seattle, Southern Utah, UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara, Utah, Utah State, Utah Valley, UTEP, Weber State, Western Carolina and Western Kentucky.
Last Year: UC Davis has placed first in the team standings for the past three years. Last year they finished with a three-round score of 825 (287, 271, 267), 15-under par. Austin Graham of UC Davis placed first in the individual standings last year with a score of 204 (70, 67, 67), six-under par.
The Utes completed the Cowboy Classic last year with a score of 880 (306, 284, 290), 40-over par. Chance Cota led Utah with a tie for 19th place shooting a three-round total of 212 (74, 73, 74), two-over par.
Last Time: Utah participated in the San Diego State Barona Cup last weekend. The Utes were led by Chase Hite ending in a 5th-place tie with a score of 214 (72, 75, 67), two-under par. As a team Utah finished in 12th place with a score of 1,137.
