SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah men's tennis team (6-13, 1-2 MWC) is set to host two conference opponents this week. The first match against No. 66-ranked UNLV (12-8, 2-1 MWC) will take place on Friday, April 16 at 1 p.m. with the second match against No. 74-ranked San Diego State (9-11, 3-0 MWC) Saturday at 10 a.m.
UNLV has defeated conference opponents New Mexico, 4-3, and Air Force, 6-1, and fallen to TCU, 4-3. Last year the Utes defeated the Rebels, 4-3, in dual match play. The Rebels topped the Utes during the quarter final round of the MWC Conference Tournament, 4-3.
SDSU is currently undefeated in conference matches topping TCU, 4-3, Air Foce, 7-0, and New Mexico, 4-3. The Aztecs will see BYU Friday before facing the Utes Saturday and are riding a five match winning streak. Last year Utah fell to SDSU, 6-1.
Last weekend the Utes dropped two road matches in Texas. Utah fell to TCU, 4-3, and UT Arlington, 5-2.
Both of this weekend's matches will take place at the Liberty Park Tennis Courts weather permitting. If it is raining or the temperature drops below 50 degrees the matches will move inside to the Eccles Tennis Center.
