With the first serve of the 2010 Utah volleyball campaign 10 days away, utahutes.com preps fans for the beginning of the season with a breakdown of the Ute roster as well as a look at the upcoming schedule. This is the second in a five-part series about the student-athletes Utah has at each position heading into the season as well as the competition they will face.
Hibbert Collette Anchors Outside Hitters Heading Into 2010:
Junior Sarah Hibbert Collette took a team-high 839 attack attempts last season, her first as a full-time starter. She finished third on the team with 2.38 kills per set and had 13 double-figure-kill performances last season.
A young trio of players will supply the depth behind Hibbert Collette with freshman Morgan Odale, redshirt freshman Brooke McAlister, and sophomore Natalie Nichols vying for opportunities to get onto the floor.
"Our left-side position is definitely more secure than last season," Launiere said. "Hibbert Collette will have a big role in the offense. We have Odale coming in, who has a lot of experience for a freshman, and I anticipate that she'll have a significant role. We'll see how McAlister is coming along with her knee. She didn't get as much training in as we would have hoped, but is working really hard. She has a great attitude and hopefully she'll be ready to go. Nichols works as hard as anyone on the team and improved a lot this spring."
