SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah men's golf team prepares for the University of Arizona NIT in Tuscon, Ariz. The tournament will be held at the 7,094-yard Omni Tuscon National Golf Club Monday and Tuesday. Thirty-six holes will be played on Monday following an 8 a.m. PT shotgun start. The final 18 holes will be played Tuesday starting at 8 a.m. This will be the Utes' first time participating in the tournament.
The Field: The Utes will be competing against 15 teams, including: Baylor, California, Colorado State, Houston, Kent State, New Mexico, SMU, TCU, Texas, Texas-El Paso, Tulsa, UNLV, Wyoming, and two squads from host Arizona.
Last Time Out: Utah last competed in the University of Hawaii John Burns Intercollegiate in Oahu, Hawaii. Senior Jeff Kitches led the Utes through three rounds of play, posting a mark of 222 (75-76-71), to tie for 46th place. As a squad, Utah posted a score of 910 (311-311-288) for a 16th-place finish.
Utah will head to San Diego, Calif., for the SDSU Barona Cup Thursday and Friday.
