Jon Hays ran the first-string offense while Jordan Wynn rested his arm on the first morning of two-a-days at Utah's fall camp. Afterwards, Wynn laughed, "It's not a conspiracy. I'm fine, I've been throwing all camp and I took today off is all. I'll play in tomorrow's scrimmage. Added trainer Paul Silvestri, "This is a marathon, not a sprint. We are just being cautious."
Injuries did strike Utah's already thin offensive line, wiping out the left guard position. Injuries to starter Sam Brenner (elbow) and backup Isaac Asiata (ankle) inspired the coaching staff to move defensive tackle Latu Heimuli to offensive guard.
Whittingham reminded reporters of former Utes who transitioned from the defensive to offensive line, including Chris Kemoeatu (now a starter for the Pittsburgh Steelers), Ed Ta'Amu and Zane Taylor.
The Utes will hold a lighter practice tonight in preparation for tomorrow's scrimmage, which is closed to the public as are all practices.
