WEEK 3 UPDATE

The final week of Utah's 2011 preseason football camp will include double-day practices on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and scrimmages Tuesday and Saturday. The Utes will hold a single practice on Thursday. See sidebar on this page for the complete practice schedule. Also up this week is Utah's first-ever Social Media Day, which will be streamed live on UtahUtes.com on Thursday, Aug. 18 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Football participants will include Norm Chow, Jordan Wynn, Tony Bergstrom, Chaz Walker and Lei Talamaivao (see Utah Social Media Day for more). Practices and scrimmages are closed to the public.

U-TWEETS

Regular season practices and fall semester classes begin for the Utes on Aug. 22 ... FOX Sports will send a crew that includes the game-day broadcasting team of Gus Johnson and Charles Davis to Utah's camp on Aug. 20 ... Senior RB Mychal Robinson and redshirt freshman LB J.T. Strong have joined the 105 roster, replacing redshirt freshman DB Damian Payne and walk-on OL Siaosi Hala'ufia, who have quit the team.

O-LINE WOES

Backup right tackle Percy Taumoelau (knee) was injured Saturday, the latest injury to Utah's beleaguered offensive line. He will be evaluated further when the swelling goes down. Also out is starting left guard Sam Brenner (elbow, out 2 weeks), backup left guard Isaac Asiata (ankle, out 3-4 weeks), Daniel Nielson (concussion) and recently converted DT Latu Heimuli (thumb surgery, 2 weeks).

INSIDE THE HUDDLE

While Sam Brenner and Isaac Asiata recover from injuries, Vyncent Jones and Siaosi Aiono will man the left guard position. Jones also backs up at center and Aiono backs up at right guard ... John White has taken the lead at running back with Tauni Vakapuna backing up ... True freshman Eric Rowe is listed as the co-starter at both safety positions this week, joining Michael Walker at strong safety and Keith McGill at free safety ... Former receiver Mo Lee has moved into the two deep at cornerback behind Conroy Black ... Moving into the top three at left end and nose tackle is true freshman Nate Fakahafua ... Others making the latest defensive three-deep are Joape Pela and Ron Tongaonevai at tackle and Lei Talamaivao at right end.

SOCIAL MEDIA DAY #UTAHSMD

Jordan Wynn, Tony Bergstrom, Chaz Walker, Lei Talamaivao, offensive coordinator Norm Chow, and players and coaches from other Utah sports teams, will participate in Utah's first-ever Social Media Day on Thursday, Aug. 18. The event will be streamed live on UtahUtes.com from 10 a.m. to approximately 2:00 p.m. Fans may submit questions through Utah's Facebook (facebook.com/uathletics) and Twitter (twitter.com/utahathletics) sites, as well as through Cover It Live (hosted on UtahUtes.com).
