SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah men's golf team prepares for the second annual Mark Simpson Invitational, hosted by Pac-12 Conference rival Colorado. The tournament will take place Monday and Tuesday at the 7,741-yard, par-71 Colorado National Golf Club in Erie, Colo.
Format
The 54-hole tournament will begin Monday with an 8 a.m. shotgun start for 36 holes of continuous play. Eighteen holes will be played Tuesday in a staggered shotgun format, also starting at 8 a.m.
The Field
Utah will play against 15 teams, including Air Force, Pac-12 rival Colorado, Colorado State, Gonzaga, Houston Baptist, Kansas, Nevada, New Mexico, New Mexico State, Northern Colorado, Oklahoma, San Diego, UTEP, and Wyoming.
Last Time at the Simpson Invitational
The Utes earned a ninth-place finish at the 2010 Simpson Invitational with a mark of 898 (304-300-294). Ben Bankhead stepped up for the Utes, posting a mark of 226 (78-74-74) to tie for 45th. Jeff Kitches led the team and tied for 24th in the individual standings with a score of 220 (73-73-74).
