Dear Tennis Friends,
From the entire men's tennis team we would like to wish you a very happy and healthy 2012. We hope you had a wonderful holiday season and that you are ready for a positive 2012. Over the break we have worked tirelessly to create our team's new website. Although there are still some minor changes coming, at this time we are comfortable to announce it to the world: www.utahmenstennis.com
This website was created with our fans and recruits in mind and it will feature anything you will need to know about our team. Besides featuring our staff, facilities, schedule, the Pac-12 and basic information on Salt Lake City and the great state of Utah, it is our intention to be more interactive with our fans and with potential recruits. Although we will continue this monthly update in its current email format, we will add more frequent blogs onto our website. Furthermore, we will also open up our blog space to our student-athletes. Lots of teams have had good success with this concept and it is a fun way for you to get to know our players a little bit better.
Our friends at Sports Information have always treated us well and with great respect. The news stories that you will find on our website will still be provided by them and will be exactly the same as the ones you will find at www.utahutes.com. As it is not our intention to substitute our fantastic athletics department website, we still encourage you to continue to use it for all your Ute needs. Furthermore, you will find articles and links with news regarding our team from our Pac-12 office, (local) newspapers, videos and any other media outlet that will cover us.
We highly encourage you to stay up to date with our website and you can easily do so by signing up through the "Follow Blog via Email" function on the top right of our website. In doing so, anytime there is a news/blog update, it will automatically send it to your email. It really doesn't get easier than that!
While the start of school (Monday, January 9th) is only days away, our players are slowly returning to campus in preparation for our home opener Saturday, January 21, vs. Weber State. Two new players will join us this spring, bringing our team to a total of 10 players. Rafael Davidian joins us from Southern California/Canada/Germany, while Slim Hamza, from Tunisia, passed his SATs and is currently going through the student visa process. Both players should be ready to go for the start of our season and will make an immediate impact to our starting lineup. Please join us in the month of January at the Eccles Tennis Center:
1/21 Weber State @ 5.00pm 1/28 Montana @ 12.00pm
Please note that the Seattle match has been moved to later in the year and that the time for the Weber State match has been pushed back to 5.00pm.
