Weber State (0-1) suffered a 7-0 sweep in its season opener at Brigham Young, Friday, Jan. 13.
Team and Individual Notes
Last Time against Weber
Saturday's match against Weber State will mark Utah's 2012 season-opener. The Utes hold an 11-0 record against the Wildcats since 2001. Last season, Utah defeated Weber, 4-3, at the Eccles Tennis Center. Freshman Matt Cowley clinched the winning point for the Utes in a three-set match at the No. 4 position, topping Ciao Poitena, 6-0, 4-6, 6-2.
Returning Utes The Utes will see all of its 2010-11 lettermen returning this season, except for Cowley, who is serving an LDS mission. Senior Benito Suriano will return to the squad after recovering from knee surgery during the fall season, while sophomores Garrett LaBarre and Devin Lane also return from injuries. Additionally, Utah will look to new additions Slim Hamza and Rafael Davidian to make an immediate impact on the starting lineup. Freshmen Ace Matias and Justin Archer will be making their collegiate dual match debuts this weekend as well.
