SALT LAKE CITY--The renewal period for 2012 Utah football season tickets is over, and for the second-straight year, there was a 98-percent renewal rate. Also, returning season ticket holders made 1,200 requests for upgrades or additional seats.
With the 32,000 in renewals, season tickets will not go on sale to the general public. Any available single-game tickets will go on sale on Aug. 6. In addition, some seats could open during the week of the game if the visiting team returns unused tickets.
Every game in Rice-Eccles Stadium for the last two seasons has sold out and the average attendance for each the past four seasons has exceeded the 45,017 seating capacity.
Chances are that will happen again with 42,500 seats already reserved for the 2012 home season, broken down to 32,000 in season ticket renewals, 7,000 student tickets, 3,500 allocated for department/University use, player comp tickets, the marching band and trade-outs. Visiting teams will be allotted another 2,500 tickets, bringing the stadium close to capacity before the season begins.
